Description
After the great success of the Piaggio crankcases, Malossi completes the work: from today the Ø 47 BIG DEPS aluminium thermal groups are available again!
The only cylinders on the market for CIAO/SI with double exhaust and symmetrical transfers!!!!
The exhaust connection is screwed and offers two major advantages:
Extreme resistance and possibility of replacement in case of breakage
Possibility to increase the exhaust output, further increasing performance
These results were made possible by the decompressor valve supplied in the kit which is smaller than the original Piaggio one.
The head has a central hemispherical combustion chamber.
The Malossi BIG DEPS aluminum thermal units represent the maximum balance between performance and component life! The BIG DEPS have been designed and manufactured with the precise aim of obtaining thermal units capable of guaranteeing high reliability together with the improvement of the internal thermo and fluid dynamics systems.
THE CYLINDER
Made with the same high-strength aluminum alloy as our racing cylinders and a nickel-chrome coated liner. The central core has been re-profiled at the transfer ports to have a larger heat exchange surface and better fluidity of flow of the cooling air to allow the fresh charge to enter the combustion chamber at optimal temperature and pressure conditions, thus improving the volumetric efficiency of the engine. On the front of the cylinder there is a support surface machined and finished with high-precision tools, with 4 threaded holes necessary for connecting the filler neck assembly.
The most important innovation is represented by the internal porting completely redesigned and specifically studied to obtain a cylinder wash maximizing the power at the correct operating speed. This has led to a great increase in performance throughout the entire operating range of the engine making it more efficient and at the same time more brilliant in the delivery of torque, without neglecting the greater control of the temperatures in the combustion chamber allowing to avoid unpleasant overheating.

THE THERMAL GROUP
The new 2018 range features extensive interchangeability, producing a series with piston with Ø 10 pin (should the user wish to keep their standard crankshaft or fit the 53 7313 Malossi) and a series with piston with Ø 12 pin for high-resistance crankshafts such as the 53 1802 RHQ Malossi.
GASKETS
The gasket kit is supplied with a new 0.5 mm head gasket no longer in aluminum but in ANNEALED COPPER: a material with a higher thermal TRANSMISSION coefficient than aluminum thanks to which it is possible to transmit a greater quantity of heat from the combustion chamber to the cooling fins and thus keep the temperatures in the chamber more controlled. Greater permeability to the heat flow also allows you to avoid a consequent increase in the life of this by also avoiding leakage of mixture out of the head. The base gasket has been designed to match the new shape of the cylinder dictated by the redesigned transfer ports and is supplied in 3 different thicknesses to allow the user to use compression ratios other than those recommended at will to obtain different engine calibrations based on your uses and experience.
EXHAUST NOZZLE
The connection to the muffler is allowed by a fitting fixed by a flange coupled to a profile specially made in the cylinder and connected to it by 4 screws. By adopting this solution, exactly as in racing cylinders, it was possible to solve all the problems of unscrewing due to vibrations regardless of the power reached. The new flange, made of burnished steel, also has two ears for housing the springs to connect the handcrafted mufflers without having to drill holes in the cylinder fins. An excellent seal is ensured by an O-ring placed on the coupling wall of the fitting which prevents any oil residue from dripping from the exhaust out of the cylinder. Each kit is supplied with two different nozzles: one for mounting the original mufflers or with the same coupling dimensions and one with larger internal and external dimensions to have an exhaust without constriction which, coupled with the sportier mufflers, allows the maximum power and torque values to be achieved.
