3117163 MALOSSI CYLINDER HEAD 177CC D.63 LML STAR 125 2T ALUMINUM THICKNESS 15
Description
Thermal Group Ø 63 in aluminium
The completely new thermal group is born, designed in every part to obtain the maximum result in terms of performance and duration. Every aspect of the system has been studied to maximize mechanical resistance, fluid dynamics and improve combustion: the result is a top of the range kit for construction quality and technological advancement.
Technical features
Cylinder
Made entirely from scratch, in high-resistance aluminum alloy and a nickel-chromium coated barrel. Composed of a central core with constant thickness around the barrel and the transfer ports, it guarantees a constant heat exchange, therefore a controlled gas inlet temperature in the chamber and an optimal heat exchange at the exhaust, it has an aerodynamically profiled cooling fin around the core designed to be penetrated with the best possible efficiency by the cooling air. The greatest innovation is represented by the completely revised and updated transfer ports, introducing the CVF according to the latest updates obtained thanks to the experience gained from competitions. The transfer ports have now been increased to 7, a distinctive feature of Malossi kits, thanks to which it has been possible to obtain the best fluid dynamic performance.
The connection to the muffler is allowed by a flange-fitting assembly fixed to the cylinder by means of 4 cylindrical head screws and an O-ring sealing the exhaust duct inserted to avoid any leakage from the thermal unit. With this extremely simple system in assembly it is possible to house all types of mufflers on the market with a Ø 37 inlet with maximum resistance, avoiding any unscrewing or rotation problems due to vehicle vibrations.
The connection with the head is now made by means of a high precision centering on the support surfaces obtained with numerically controlled machines. A set of multi-thickness base gaskets is supplied to allow the user to adjust the compression, adapting it to the most varied uses.
Piston
Cast with an innovative material, consisting of a steel core covered with an aluminum-silicon alloy, which provides extreme lightness as well as excellent resistance to corrosion, even at high temperatures and a reflection of the heat derived from combustion, the heat flow is then directed towards the dissipation surfaces, promoting the cooling of the combustion chamber and maintaining it within the optimal temperature range. The internal part of the skirt has ribs immersed in the casting with which the right strengthening has been obtained in the areas most mechanically stressed while allowing maximum lightening of the piston. The windows in the rear part and the diametrical recesses instead guarantee the maximum possible flow of fresh charge towards the cylinder transfer ports.
Head
Another revolution in the construction philosophy of 2-stroke engines: the cooling fins have been sized to optimize the heat flow from the chamber to the outside but are now also profiled according to modern simulations to allow the maximum possible penetration of the air coming from the cooling system, which now laps the head with an increase in efficiency of over 10% compared to a traditional system with straight fins.
The characteristic hemispherical combustion chamber is machined to tolerances of a tenth of a millimetre and develops highly turbulent combustion, with pressure peaks calculated at the most suitable speeds to obtain maximum performance in terms of torque and power. The extremely high temperatures reached in this particular border area between the head and the cylinder, which are often the source of hot spots and detonations, are regulated thanks to an aerospace solution: a vacuum chamber duct made with two bulkheads and a series of inlet and outlet deflectors. These convey, thanks also to a precise surface profile, a part of the cooling air, forcing it not only to lick the surfaces but also to expand, decreasing, thanks to a precise physical principle, the pressure and therefore the temperature of the walls bordering the combustion chamber.
