ATHENA is proud to be the first to present a cylinder kit for mopeds with a Power Valve on the exhaust.
Our cylinder, made of aluminum, with nickel-silicon surface treatment, was developed by the Athena R&D department for the “SEMPREVERDE” MINARELLI AM6 engine in two displacements, 40 mm 50 cc. and 50 mm 80 cc., conceived and designed to be the highest performance kit in this category.
The main exhaust port is assisted by two Boosts and a Power Valve which, by varying the timing and area, increases the engine's performance throughout the entire rev range.
This kit uses a cast flat-top piston with molykote surface treatment that has been specifically designed for this type of cylinder. In addition, the cylinder head, which uses a very extended squish bar, ensures a high compression ratio.

The THROTTLE VALVE, in a 2-stroke engine, varies the duration of the
exhaust phase, ensuring a rich bass but without compromising high-rev performance.
The throttle valve used by Athena is of the guillotine type with pneumatic control which uses the pressure of the exhaust gases to set the entire system in motion.
At low revs, when exhaust gas pressure is low, the valve is held closed by a spring inside the pneumatic system.
As the rpm increases, the exhaust gas pressure increases, pressurizing the pneumatic system, which consequently activates the valve, causing it to lift.
