Developed for latest generation cars equipped with Diesel or petrol engines, aspirated or turbocharged, direct or indirect injection, compliant with EURO 4, EURO 5 or EURO 6 anti-pollution standards, which require the use of an ACEA C3 lubricant, with a high level of HTHS viscosity (>3.5 mPa.s) and with reduced content of sulphated ash (≤0.8%), phosphorus (0.07 ≤ x ≤ 0.09%) and sulphur (≤ 0.3%) “Mid SAPS”.
Compatible with catalytic converters and diesel particulate filters (DPF).

Characteristics:
Engines that comply with EURO 4, EURO 5 and EURO 6 emission standards are equipped with extremely sensitive exhaust gas post-treatment systems. Phosphorus and sulphur inhibit the operation of the catalytic converter, making exhaust gas treatment ineffective, while sulphated ash clogs the particulate filters, causing a shorter regeneration cycle, premature oil ageing, increased fuel consumption and a decrease in engine performance.
ACEA C3 specification requires high oil film resistance and low emission performance for powerful engines: MOTUL 8100 X-clean gen2 5W-40 is synthetic based and formulated with balanced sulphated ash content to achieve high oil film resistance, reducing engine friction and ensuring compatibility with exhaust gas after-treatment systems. MOTUL 8100 X-clean gen2 5W-40 has high lubricating properties such as wear protection and high temperature resistance for better oil consumption control. ACEA C3 type lubricants allow extended oil drain intervals, managed directly by the vehicles on-board computer.
Many manufacturers such as Hyundai/Kia, Nissan, Honda, Ssangyong, Suzuki, Mitsubishi, recommend an ACEA C3 lubricant for most of their vehicles, especially Diesel engines with DPF.
The BMW LL-04 approval imposes severe constraints on the lubricant, in particular for the presence of the Valvetronic system and the compatibility with the exhaust gas post-treatment system. The application of the product is possible on BMW engines from 2004 onwards as well as on all BMW engines produced before 2004, since the BMW LL-04 specification covers all previous BMW approvals such as BMW LL-08 and BMW LL-01.
ATTENTION: The product can be used on petrol engines only in the countries of the European Union, Switzerland, Norway and Liechtenstein. Outside these countries, a BMW LL-01 lubricant is required such as the product Motul 8100 X-cess gen2 5W-40. Refer to the manufacturer's recommendations.
Motul 8100 X-clean gen2 5W-40 meets the requirements of the BMW LL-04 specification for all BMW Group, MINI and ROLLLS-ROYCE cars without exceptions i.e. models before or after 2019.
For models up to 2019, Motul 8100 X-clean 5W-40 can also be used.
The GM-OPEL dexos2 approval is suitable for the entire range of GM-OPEL Diesel engines (including DPF versions) and for most petrol engines from 2010 onwards. Furthermore, GM-OPEL dexos2TM completely replaces and supersedes the previous GM specifications: GM-LL-A-025 (Petrol) and GM-LL-B-025 (Diesel).
MERCEDES has developed the MB 229.52 approval for all "BlueTEC" Diesel engines with SCR (Selective Catalytic Reduction) which allows treatment of nitrogen oxides through the use of the AdBlue® additive.
The MB 229.52 approval is also fully compatible with the previous MB 229.51 and MB 229.31 specifications for all Mercedes Diesel engines with DPF and some petrol engines.
The MB 229.52 specification also requires significant cold flow properties to allow a reduction in consumption and therefore a reduction in greenhouse gases (CO2).
Porsche C40 approval is particularly stringent in terms of lubricating film resistance and applies to PORSCHE engines with GPF (Gasoline Particulate Filter). Porsche C40 specification is not compatible with other Porsche specifications such as Porsche A40, C30 and C20.
The Renault RN0700 and RN0710 specifications require lubricants capable of withstanding the most severe thermal conditions together with compatibility with modern Renault exhaust gas post-treatment systems.
Renault RN0700 approval applies to all naturally aspirated petrol engines (except Renault Sport) of the Renault group (Renault, Dacia, Samsung). RN0700 also applies to all Renault cars equipped with 1.5 dCi Diesel engines without a particulate filter (DPF) with less than 100 HP output and with a drain interval of 20,000 km or 1 year.
The Renault RN0710 approval applies to all turbocharged petrol, Renault Sport and Diesel engines without particulate filter (DPF) of the Renault group (Renault, Dacia, Samsung) but does not apply to Renault Diesel cars equipped with 1.5 dCi engines without particulate filter with less than 100 hp output and drain intervals of 20,000 km or 1 year which specifically require a lubricant with the RN0700 specification. For the 2.2 dCi engine with DPF, use only an approved RN0710 lubricant and not RN0720.
The VW 511 00 specification requires high shear resistance to adapt to the most severe applications on VAG group (VW, Audi, Skoda, Seat) petrol engines, especially those equipped with GPF (Gasoline Particulate Filter). Warning: do not use Motul 8100 X-clean gen2 5W-40 where VW 504 00 507 00 is specifically requested, in such cases use Motul Specific 504 00 507 00 5W-30 or 0W-30 or Motul 8100 X-clean+ 5W-30.
The FIAT 9.55535-S2 performance level requires the lubricant to combine the ACEA C3 specification and the 5W40 grade in order to perfectly lubricate all petrol engines of the FIAT, ALFA ROMEO and LANCIA brands produced from July 2007 onwards.
